After going around in circles for 20 min trying to find a park, I said to myself, "let me ask the police officer where I can go". However, I did not know there was a marathon going on until I saw many streets blocked off. I used the GPS from my phone to get there. Over the weekend, I had to travel to a bakery on Palisades Ave in Weehawken. I get it, most of these dudes are already ‘on the clock,’ so they could care less about folks heading into the city to work.but c’mon, is it that hard to roadmap a set of best practices and execute them? Or is that expecting far to much for a police force not used to dealing with these issues? Where they could easily close down the whole street (did I mention the half street they leave open dead-ends to a closed street?).then compound that problem with they do nothing, but watch traffic snarl. Every morning on my commute into NYC, these folks close down half a street for construction.thereby jamming up traffic while they sit in their cars or chat up construction workers. Probably some of the most incompetent officers I have every had the pleasure watch work. I have been slapped with fines and a impound bill all for enlisting the help of The Weehawken Police Station.
Being a nurse, I would never dream of saying to someone in trouble or hurting “my hands are tied”. I can only hope if your children or grandchildren were in this same situation, someone in your position would treat them with more kindness than you had treated me. Aside from being hysterical that my dog was stuck in a hot car he proceeded to tell me they were going to tow my car because my registration had expired. I had enlisted the help of a nearby policeman who called the Fire Department to come get the dog out of my car. My dog accidentally got locked in my vehicle. Tonight was extremely disappointing and scary because of the Weehaken Police Station.
